Niels Reyes

(b. Santa Clara, 1977)

Niels Reyes graduated from the “Olga Alonso” Vocational School of Visual in Santa Clara (1992), the Professional School of Arts in Trinidad (1998); and the Superior Institute of Art in Havana (2006). Reyes received the First Award of the Provincial Salon of Visual Arts in Santa Clara, Cuba, in 2002. In 2010 he participated at the 12th Cairo Biennial in Egypt, and in 2012 he was an artist-in-residence of the Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture (BMUKK) in Vienna, Austria. Some of his most recent solo exhibitions include Psicotropical at Knoerle and Baettig Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland, 2015; Walking Through the Mud at Ve.Sch in Vienna, Austria, 2012; Passing clouds at Servando Gallery in Havana, 2012; The Act and the Shadow, collateral to the 11th Havana Biennial at Morro Cabaña Complex, 2012; and Obnubilium, at Luz y Suarez del Villar Gallery in Madrid, Spain, 2009. His work is part of several renowned collections in the United States, Europe and Canada.
