Aimée García
(b. Matanzas, 1972)
Aimée García graduated from the Vocational School of Visual Arts in Matanzas in 1987, the Provincial School of Visual Arts in Camagüey in 1991, and the Superior Institute of Art in 1996. Among her most notable individual exhibitions are The Distaff (Habana Gallery, Havana, 2001); Without Words (Fraser Gallery, Washington DC, 2004); The Taste of Silence (Wifredo Lam Center of Contemporary Art, Havana, 2004); The Other Skin (SPATIVM Gallery, Caracas, Venezuela, 2005); A Play of Roles (Couturier Gallery, Los Angeles, California, 2006); Conspiracy (“Alejandro Otero” Museum, Caracas, Venezuela, 2006); Shared Space (Couturier Gallery, Los Angeles, California, 2010); and The Garden of Distrust (Villa Manuela Gallery, Havana, 2010). Her works are part of the collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Cuba; the Arizona State University (ASU) Art Museum in Tempe, Arizona; el Museo del Barrio in New York City; the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia; and the Museum of Finest Cuban Arts (MOFCA) in Vienna, Austria.
