Mabel Poblet
(b. Cienfuegos, 1986)
Mabel Poblet graduated from the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts (2007) and the Superior Institute of Art (2012), both in Havana. She also attended the Workshop of Behavior Art, conducted by artist Tania Bruguera in Havana, in 1998. She received the Noemí Award, granted by the Brownstone Foundation in Paris, France, in 2014; and was an artist-in-residence of Habana Cultura, hosted by Havana Club International, in 2012. In 2010 she served on the jury for the National Visual Arts Award. Her solo shows include Reverso (Reverse) at Tomas y Valiente Art Center in Madrid, Spain, 2013; Desapariencia at Enlace Arte Contemporáneo Gallery in Lima, Peru, 2013; Situación Límite (Limit Situation) at Raquel Ponce Gallery in Madrid, Spain, 2013; Hoy mi voz tiene sonido (Today My Voice Has Meaning) at Villa Manuela Gallery in Havana, 2012; De tus ojos la sal (The Salt From Your Eyes) at Nuno Sacramento Gallery in Ílhavo, Portugal, 2011; and Un Sueño Real (A Real Dream) at the Cuban Photographic Library in Havana, 2009. Her works are part of the collections of the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation in Miami, Florida; the Brownstone Foundation in Paris, France; the Center for Cuban Studies in New York, NY; and several private collections in the United States and Europe.
