Alejandro Campins
(b. Manzanillo, 1981)
Alejandro Campins graduated from "El Alba" School of Fine Arts in Holguín (2000) and the Superior Institute of Art in Havana (2009). Some of his most recent solo exhibitions are City of the dead at Servando Gallery in Havana, 2015; Herencia (Heritage) at Knoerle and Beattig Contemporary Fine Art in Winterthur, Switzerland, 2013; Li-4 at ZonaMACO in Mexico DF, Mexico, 2013; Patria (Homeland) at Factoría Habana Gallery in Havana, 2012; La bondad del desconocido (The Kindness of the Stranger) at Servando Gallery in Havana, 2011; and En la cola del cometa (In the Comet’s Tail) at Luz y Suarez del Villar Gallery in Madrid, Spain, 2009. Campins’ work has been included in several group exhibitions such as Para quebrar los muros (To Break the Walls) at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, 2013; Cuba Contemporaine; Arte de la grande île des Caraïbes (Contemporary Cuban: Art From the Great Caribbean Island) at the Centre Culturel du Manoir de Cologny in Geneva, Switzerland; 2013; Gulliver, at the Freies Museum in Berlin, Germany, 2012; and Confluences, Inside II at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, 2009. He has participated in numerous international art fairs and biennials, including the 5th Cuban Contemporary Art Salon in Havana, 2014; the 12th Cairo Biennial in Cairo, Egypt, 2010; and the 1st Biennale of Portugal, 2010.
