Juan Padrón
(b. Jovellanos, 1947)
Juan Padrón is a draftsman, animator, illustrator, caricaturist, cartoonist and screenwriter. He graduated from the University of Havana in 1978 with a degree in Art History. He is the creator of famous Cuban cartoons such as Aventuras de Elpidio Valdés, Filminutos, Vampiros en La Habana (Vampires in Havana) and Quinoscopios (alongside Argentinian cartoonist Joaquín Lavado). In 2008 he received the National Cinema Award granted by the Cuban Ministry of Culture for his lifetime achievements.
