Perfecto Romero
(b. Cabaiguán, 1936)
Perfecto Romero is a photographer. He joined the guerilla forces against Batista and was subsequently appointed as the official photographer of Ernesto “Che” Guevara’s regiment. After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, he became the chief photographer of the military magazine Verde Olivo, taking pictures of post-revolutionary Cuba. During this time he also photographed Chile during Salvador Allende’s tenure and street life in Moscow during the 1970’s. His work has been shown in Cuba, France, Mexico, the United States, Italy, Spain, Russia and the Czech Republic.
