Sofía Maldonado
(b. Puerto Rico, 1984)
Sofía Maldonado graduated from the School of Visual Arts in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2006) and the Pratt Institute in New York, NY (2008). She has been an artist-in-residence at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT (2009); the Cuban Artists Fund in New York (2010); the Manhattan Community Arts Fund in New York (2012); the Caribbean Link II, Ateliers 89’ in Oranjestad, Aruba; and the Fist Art Foundation in Dorado, Puerto Rico (2015). Her solo exhibitions include World Crisis at Magnan Metz Gallery in New York, NY, 2013; Fever: Tropical Nostagias & Urban Anxieties… at the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Juan, Puerto Rico, 2012; (R)AMPED at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2011; Concrete Jungle Divas at Magnan Metz Gallery in New York, NY, 2010; and Bling Bling at Witzenhausen Gallery in Amsterdam, Netherlands, 2010.
